Former Senator Josh Newman to Host Candidate Forum in Winters, CA, Discussing 2026 Bid for State Superintendent of Public Instruction

Former California State Senator Josh Newman is set to participate in a candidate forum on June 17 in Winters, California, as part of his 2026 campaign for State Superintendent of Public Instruction. The event is organized by the Northern California Youth Policy Coalition (NCYPC), in collaboration with student advocacy groups GenUp and Scaling Student Success.

Newman, who served in the California State Senate from 2016 to 2018 and again from 2020 to 2024, has a legislative record that includes chairing the Senate Committee on Education and authoring over 40 pieces of legislation focused on education reform, renewable energy, and housing affordability. His campaign for the state’s top education office emphasizes his commitment to improving public education and addressing the needs of students across California.

The forum aims to provide a platform for Newman to engage with students, educators, and community members, discussing his vision for California's education system. The event will be held at the Winters Community Center, located at 201 Railroad Avenue, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about Newman's plans to address challenges facing the state's schools.

This event underscores the growing involvement of youth-led organizations in shaping educational policy and highlights the importance of community engagement in the electoral process.
